God

God has a lot of names referring to a higher source of existence. Yet people believing in the same entity seem to think they have cornered the market on their chosen name. People die over religion. Why? How can someone calling something a different name be such a threat? If I held up a knife and called it a fork, would people be insulted?

Another mistake people make is putting distance between themselves and God.

In considering these points, we decided to put together this program to talk about the connection between people and Source. In doing so, we hope to make a connection with you!

Solstice - Christianity - Paganism

As we embarked on this topic for our podcast, Margo and I clearly stated that our approach was to inform, share, and raise questions. In no way would we ever want to criticize or judge anyone’s beliefs.

History is full of examples where one idea gets turned into another and into another. Building on what exists is a way to grow. “If ya can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” seemed to be the Christian’s way of recruiting new members. Instead of taking away customs and traditions, they were incorporated into the celebration of Jesus’ birth. As their faith moved from Rome and into the north part of Europe, various cultures contributed to the traditions of what we now know as Christmas.

I compare it to living next to a frat house. When you can’t get the guys to turn down the music and calm down the party-goers, invite your own friends and tell them your party is next door. No one will notice you’re there, and you get to tap into the keg for free. Better yet, they get to clean up the mess the next day, and your friends will congratulate you for the wonderful bash.
